SCHIOPPETTINO di PREPOTTO
The name Schioppettino derives from its ancient Friulian name, “Scopp”, which is in turn to be traced to the crunching of its berries if placed in the mouth. Schioppettino, is also called Black Ribolla and is the best known autochthonous Friulian black berry. Despite its thousand-year history, at the beginning of the 70’s the vine was almost extinct due to diseases, first Oidium and then Phylloxera.

Description
VINIFICATION
We manually harvest the grapes at the right degree of ripeness, which once crushed and destemmed, we place in steel tanks and part in open tonneaux. Here the must macerates and ferments on the skins for about 20 days, while carrying out malolactic fermentation. Drawing off involves aging in French oak barrels for 18 months. Blending of the best barrels takes place in steel tanks for a period of about 3 months. We bottle the wine usually in mid December and then give it an additional 6 months of aging in bottle.
ORGANOLEPTIC ASPECTS
The tipical Judrio Valley's grape variety is dressed in a deep ruby red. Fruity aromas of currant and watermelon and floral aromas of lavender. Deep, elegant mouthfeel with a full sharp progression and a long peppery finish.
